Gary Thelemann inspects a corn field north of Le Sueur heavily damaged by hail Wednesday night. About 12,000 acres of crops were damaged in the county. While corn plants stripped of leaves can grow back and produce a decent crop, officials say the deep wounds to the stalks will expose these plants to disease, meaning they are likely lost.
