Darold Nienhaus, wastewater superintendent in Winnebago, and officials at the Corn Plus ethanol plant east of Winnebago learned that the state Legislature had agreed to provide $1 million to help finance a plan to divert treated municipal wastewater to the ethanol facility. If it happens, the water discharging into the Blue Earth River will replace groundwater from wells at Corn Plus.
