LE CENTER — A small-town mayor's attempt to fire a city administrator has ended up in civil court.
Elysian City Administrator Patricia Nusbaum is suing Elysian Mayor Kathleen Anttila for defamation for statements made during a Sept. 12, 2011, council meeting. At that time, Anttila laid out 13 allegations of poor job performance by Nusbaum.
The Elysian council voted 2-2 that evening on a motion by Anttila, elected in 2010, to fire Nusbaum.
Nusbaum's lawsuit, which is seeking more than $50,000 in damages, contends the claims are false and were made with malice.
