ST PETER — The Minnesota State women’s tennis team had little troubled with Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference rival Minnesota Duluth on Sunday, earning a 7-2 victory at Swanson Tennis Center.
They jumped to a 3-0 lead in doubles play. Paige Burke and Heather Jensen had the most decisive win, an 8-2 victory at No. 2 doubles.
Jensen, a Mankato East graduate, was equally dominant in singles, delivering a 6-0, 6-1 triumph at the No. 6 spot. Kathryn Gavin clinched the dual-meet win soon after, recording a 6-1, 6-2 triumph at second singles.
Burke (No. 4) and Brandi Dohman (No. 3) had the other singles wins for the Mavericks.
MSU returns to action on Valentine’s Day with a meet against Southwest Minnesota State on Sunday, Feb. 14, in St. Peter.
