MANKATO —
Another Irish sensation arrives in Mankato on Saturday.
In March, the international performance troop Riverdance stopped in Mankato during its farewell tour.
Now, the group that was named Billboard’s Top World Music Artist, Celtic Thunder, is performing at the Verizon Wireless Center. The group will perform selections from their latest release, “Voyage.”
And to say the six-member touring group is well-known is an understatement.
They’ve won multiple Billboard awards and have sold more than 2 million copies of their material. Since 2008, videos on the group’s YouTube channel (“Thunder Tube”) have been viewed more than 30 million times. They’ve toured Australia and South Africa, and they arrive in Mankato as part of a three-month, 65-city tour of North America. They even performed for President Barack Obama and the first lady for their St. Patrick’s Day celebration.

“Celtic Thunder live shows are known for dramatic effects via lighting and choreography as well as realistic Irish stage sets with authentic Irish instruments. The performances have dramatic solos, compelling ensembles, and comedic acts.
“’Voyage’ continues to pay homage to the musical culture of Ireland, while exploring the musical journey each soloist has undertaken since the beginning of Celtic Thunder four years ago. The group performances highlight the diversity of Irish music and song; from the powerful rendition of “Dulaman” to the love song “Maid of Culmore,” the collection also features a rousing performance of “Galway Girl” and beloved Irish party song “My Irish Molly-O.”
