MANKATO — The answer is no.
You cannot complete your ballot for the 2012 CityArt Walking Sculpture Tour online.
“We really want people to get out and enjoy the tour,” said Noelle Lawton, tour coordinator. “We want people to experience the walk, experience the city center.”
The Walking Sculpture Tour began in Mankato in 2011 with 25 sculptures designed by artists from around the country. One piece is selected through a people’s choice ballot to be purchased for permanent display on the walking tour.
Last year’s winner was “Reading Magic,” by Julie Jones.
This year, the tour includes 34 sculptures that represent a variety of artistic styles and themes. People’s choice voting continues until Oct. 26, but officials are urging the public to take the walking tour now and begin considering their choice for the next permanent addition to the sculpture walk.
“Their votes are important,” Lawton said. “This decides which sculpture stays in Mankato.”
Lawton added that every one of the sculptures on the tour has received votes. But there are three in particular, she said, that seem to be leading choices (though, she declined to specify which three).
Ballots are available at five locations on the tour and are marked on the tour map. Maps can be printed out by visiting www.cityartmankatocom/tour and clicking on the “View Tour Map” link.
This year’s Walking Sculpture Tour includes a photo contest. Participants can upload their photos involving one or more of the sculptures to Facebook. Winners will then be selected for a chance to win a cash prize. There is also a scavenger hunt for kids and Lawton said an audio tour will be uploaded to the CityArt website in the next week or two.
