MANKATO —
Butter, salt, eat, repeat were the directions for a new tradition that began Saturday morning at the local Farmers Market.
Six contestants competed valiantly win the inaugural corn on the cob speed eating contest. The battle, although messy, looked delicious from the audience. Mouths were watering as they watched the participants get their faces and hands full of the fresh, buttery and lightly salted sweet corn from Sasse Farms.
The winner of the contest was the first person to eat five ears of corn. The reward for their efforts was to be crowned Corn King (or Queen).
For those interested in being the next King you better start practicing — butter, salt, eat, repeat.
