The House of Representatives recently passed the American Clean Energy and Security Act which will provide incentives for our energy producers to move away from dependence on foreign energy toward a reliance on American clean energy.
Many conservatives have complained that this is just another tax increase from the Democrats. While conservatives apparently want to maintain the status quo and do nothing, Congressman Tim Walz listened to the people of southern Minnesota and decided to support a comprehensive energy plan that will support this country for decades into the future.
Doing something now will cost the average family $157 per year (48 cents a day) according to the Congressional Budget Office. Continuing to operate with no coherent policy (the do nothing plan) will have undetermined consequences.
Now we need to contact Senator Amy Klobuchar and Senator Al Franken to support the passage of a Senate clean energy bill. A conference committee can then recommend legislation that President Obama can sign.
America needs to get on track toward increased use of clean energy.
