MANKATO — I was fired up listening to the president’s State of the Union speech.
As a splendid change,of pace, the president fought back against the lies and distortions used to characterize the first year of his administration.
If his adversaries need to resort to lies, distortions and propaganda to refute the president or present their views, then I feel their views are not worth presenting.
I am fed up with the Republican Party playing to populism with lies, but really representing the interests of corporations and the wealthy. They masquerade their reverse Robin Hood actions behind the lie that they are fighting for the “man-on-the-street.”
Believe me they only care about those who don’t need to be cared for. They help those who need no help at the expense of those who do.
The president pledged $30 billion for small businesses who hire workers, investments for infrastructure and a strong foundation for sustained prosperity. That prosperity is encouraged by limiting big bank practices jeopardizing our financial system, increasing student aid to improve the quality of our labor pool and health care reform that reduces the out-of-control upward spiral of health care costs, severely squeezing families and small businesses.
