MANKATO —
I’m just curious why the news media chooses to use acronyms, buzzwords, or whatever term is used to describe them, when presenting political issues. The ones that come to immediate mind are GOP, DFL and gubernatorial. With the recent heavy emphasis on recruiting new voters, why add another point of confusion?
I’m not the sharpest knife in the drawer and therefore need a crutch to decipher the political news. I know that the first word in DFL is Democrat so the other one (GOP) must be not Democrat. I just wonder how many people know what GOP stands for?
To make this a true government for the people, by the people, there really has to be a concentrated effort to present political issues to the taxpayers in a reasonable form. Of course political confusion has to include the health care bill.
This is one of the most critical issues ever presented to the taxpayers. Since it affects every single U.S. citizen, wouldn’t it be nice if the average person could read and understand what they are proposing?
