— Peter Etzell (Your View, 3/2) correctly discerned the reason for the fall of Rome. It rotted from within because of sodomy.
Historians have catalogued some 300 explanations for the fall of Rome, including factors such as imperial overstretch, barbarian hordes, and a 100-year string of insane or incompetent emperors.
But such analyses are simply smoke screens. The facts are clear: Rome almost legalized gay marriage, and all of a sudden, a few hundred years later, the empire collapsed.
Okay, technically Rome outlawed homosexuality, but the empire did collapse, and, working backwards, that must mean the laws weren’t enforced … not enough gays were being arrested … same as almost legalizing. That shows just how seditious, and even diabolical, those gays are.
If the U.S. approves gay marriage, who knows? … half of all heterosexual marriages might end in divorce. OK, bad example; that’s already happening.
But the problem is much broader. After the attack on 9/11, it was Jerry Falwell who explained what really happened. The attack, he said, was God punishing America because of feminists, gays and lesbians (along with abortionists and pagans). By inference, then, Osama bin Laden was God’s instrument for punishing America.
It gets even scarier. Pat Robertson described the problem during his presidential run some years ago: “(T)he feminist agenda … is about a socialist, anti-family political movement that encourages women to leave their husbands, kill their children, practice witchcraft, destroy capitalism and become lesbians.”
This makes it all clear. We must oppose gay marriage or our country will be overrun by socialist-lesbian-witches who kill babies and God will send his Muslim avengers to punish us. Haven’t we learned anything from history?

Recent opinion polls show that less than one-third of Americans have a favorable opinion of Mitt Romney, and almost half, 49 percent, have an unfavorable opinion — a number that skyrocketed 15 percentage points in one month, according to a January ABC News/Washington Post poll.
