As mentioned in The Free Press, I have decided that 2010 is not the year for me to pursue a seat in the Minnesota House of Representatives. I very much enjoyed the campaign in 2008, and sincerely appreciate the support, opinions, and messages of my friends and neighbors in southern Minnesota.
After the close of the last election cycle, I have decided that it is in the best interest of my family to delay my return to the race for House District 23A.
I am a proud father of a sixth grader and a high school sophomore, and I believe that during their teen-age years, kids go through a lot, and need the support and attention of their parents.
The campaign trail takes a lot of time, outside of the 50-plus hours per week work. Fulfilling the duties of a state representative would take even more time. For the sake of my family, I have to take a step back and focus on what is important in my own household.
I plan on diligently preparing myself to be a better candidate, as well as supporting and helping candidates that support our values for the people of District 23A, Congressional District 1, the state of Minnesota, and the United States of America.
I entered the race in 2008 with limited political experience, but was honored and thankful for the support that I received. By taking a little time to learn and prepare, I know I will return to be the public servant my district expects and deserves.
Thank you for all who supported and voted for me in 2008. I look forward to speaking with you more over the next few years.
