Your View: Pawlenty should step down from current job

While I realize that Gov. Tim Pawlenty has decided not to run for another term as governor of Minnesota, I do realize that he is currently the governor of the state of Minnesota.

I also realize that every day in the news we are told that he is making a visit to another state or will be shortly.

I would like to know how all these trips benefit the state and its citizens and who is financing them. I would also like to know if Pawlenty is making all these trips to get himself more recognizable prior to making his as yet unannounced bid for the presidency.

If that is the case then shame on him. His priorities should be about his current job of governor, not for a job he may hope to have in the future. Pawlenty needs to focus his attention on the people who are paying his salary.

If he can’t see his way to do that then he should step down and let his second in command take over. That way he would be free to travel anywhere, anytime and not have to answer to anyone.
