The Fun Days parade was excellent. The weather cooperated, the crowd was respectful, and the atmosphere was fun and joyful. There was so much candy given out that by the end of the parade kids were leaving Tootsie Rolls in the street.
As the mother of a former Lancer, the only disappointment was that the band once again decided to go on tour at the exact same time that they could have been performing for the people who support them.
All we saw was a trailer with a sign on the side stating how sorry they were that they couldn’t be here, but that they were performing in Calgary. We were invited to see them on July 17 at Sibley Park for a performance and pie.
While the pie in the park performance is good, it just doesn’t compare to seeing our much loved local band perform in the parade. I would hope that those in charge would look for trips in the future that do not occur at the same time as Fun Days.
