Natural selection is a very non-random process? If this sentence from a letter to the editor is true, what intelligence is doing the selection?
Paul Brandon said, “Some species are selected and others are eliminated.” I agree, but you can’t predict which will be selected or eliminated. If you could predict which species will survive then natural selection would be non-random, but you can’t make predictions like this.
Brandon said, “This active process (natural selection) results in evolution ...” What kind of evolution is he referring to?
If he is talking about micro-evolution (a variety of dogs) I would agree. If he is talking about macro-evolution (monkey turns into man) then I completely disagree.
Could he please cite evidence of natural selection creating macro-evolution?
Brandon then goes on to state that 99 percent of all biologists believe in evolution. I would like to see the survey he used to back that number.
Also, even if 100 percent of biologists believed in evolution, that doesn’t make it true.
The majority of scientists used to believe the earth was flat, heavier objects fell faster than lighter objects and draining a sick person’s blood was healthy to do.
Arguing from the majority is faulty logic.
Brandon concluded with the reason evolution is the only taught theory in public school is because most biologists believe in it. I completely disagree.
Evolution wasn’t actively taught in public schools until 1963, but many years leading up to 1963 the majority of scientists believed in evolution. The reason evolution is the only taught theory in public schools today is because Christians are lazy and allow groups like the ACLU to control our schools.
