Your View — Media’s political coverage should include all parties

Michael Burger, Mankato

Jesse Ventura’s personality vastly overshadowed the accomplishments of his administration. He was wise not to run for office this year.

The media would only report on Jesse-isms and not on the issues or solutions he would have presented to you.

The Independence Party has seven candidates for the U.S. Senate, including endorsed candidate Steve Williams and former U.S. Senator Dean Barkley. How much coverage will the media give them?

The IP is a major party in Minnesota. Not a third party or minor party, but a party equal to the Democrats and Republicans. It’s unfortunate the media does not treat the IP as an equal in its coverage.

How can you, the voter, be informed on the issues and solutions if the media gives you only two options?

It’s very sad that the Democrats spend and Republicans borrow, mortgaging your children’s future.

Voting for an Independence candidate or true independent candidate is your best hope for true change.

As for the media, only you, the reader or viewer, can demand they change the way they cover political parties and candidates. You have the right to be informed on possible solutions to the issues, not just the same old two.

Quite frankly, the same old two aren’t working for “we the people” anymore.
