Aug. 1, our son’s Mankato United U13 C3 soccer team won the final tournament game in Blaine and are now 2008 Minnesota State champions.
Congrats to coaches and players.
We are still eagerly waiting to see coverage of this exciting game in The Free Press.
To give The Free Press credit, you did report (on the Scorecard page) the scores of the three games leading up to the final — but even this little mention was a full week after the games were won, and with no mention of the team earning a berth in the state final.
We are as pleased as anyone in Mankato that the Vikings are bringing fans and revenue to our city. But the Vikes aren’t the only sports happening in Mankato in late July and August.
As regular and faithful subscribers, we would appreciate a much more concerted effort to provide Mankato United Soccer Club with front-page coverage of league games and tournaments, including photos.
A local, hometown paper should provide coverage of local, hometown successes.

Recent opinion polls show that less than one-third of Americans have a favorable opinion of Mitt Romney, and almost half, 49 percent, have an unfavorable opinion — a number that skyrocketed 15 percentage points in one month, according to a January ABC News/Washington Post poll.
