Your View: Health care shouldn’t require federal takeover

Recently, we saw the passage in the U.S. House of Representatives a bill that is another step in government takeover of our lives, giving the American public less freedom than we have ever seen.

With the passage of controlled health care we will face more mandates, less choice, more taxes, elimination of private enterprise and a cost that is incomprehensible.

The bill doesn’t begin to tell how it will be implemented, who will run it, and how many thousands of new government employees, that we, the taxpayers, will fund forever.

Once the program goes into effect, it will grow and grow with its tentacles ever strangling our ability to have a choice or to be able to pay for it.

AARP has shown what it really is, a taxpayer funded business, supporting a bill that, in my opinion, will surely take away benefits, totaling up to $500 billion, from Medicare savings. It has been stated that they can save that much in Medicare waste.

We often wonder why production moves overseas. With these kinds of costs, mandates, restrictions, etc., that we put upon our manufacturers, energy suppliers, small businesses and professionals, how do we expect to compete?

Government now has control in the financial industry, the automobile industry, and now trying to control the health industry.

Do we need to make some changes in health care? Yes, but it sure does not need a government takeover. There are several changes that can be implemented and it will not cost a trillion dollars.

Let us remember who voted for this monstrosity and correct it in the 2010 elections. I would hope that it is not too late to correct the direction that this is going.
