Last Wednesday’s Free Press reported that Nicollet County is considering the purchase of some land adjacent to Minnemishinona Falls for additional parking. It was also reported that future plans call for the construction of a trail bridge for better viewing of the falls.
My question is: Additional parking and a bridge to view what?
I have taken students and groups in recent years to look at Minnemishinona Falls and have found that more often than not there is “no real viewing.” Like, there’s barely a trickle of water over the falls.
I think the money for this project could be better spent by continuously fixing the holes in the park fencing to provide more safety.

Recent opinion polls show that less than one-third of Americans have a favorable opinion of Mitt Romney, and almost half, 49 percent, have an unfavorable opinion — a number that skyrocketed 15 percentage points in one month, according to a January ABC News/Washington Post poll.
