I was very surprised with the picture on the front page of Sunday’s sports section. The decision to use this picture was a classless move.
The past two seasons I have had the opportunity to work with MSU football players and coaches. I have always been impressed with the attitude, work ethic and maturity of the players and the drive, determination and passion displayed by the coaches. Luckily, the MSU athletic department has more class then the individual who selected the photo for Sunday’s paper.
After the game on Saturday, not a single MSU player or coach blamed the individual that was pictured, something I consider very classy. However, The Free Press painted a different picture of who was to blame for the outcome of Saturday’s game.
Any person that knows the game of football knows that games are not lost, or won, on a single play. Of all the moments of the game on Saturday, I cannot figure out why this picture was selected. I hope this is a decision regretted by The Free Press staff.
Finally, I’d like to say thank you MSU coaches and players for showing class not only in victory all season long, but for showing class in defeat this weekend. Great season Mavs.
