Your View: Health industry's logic off

By Malcolm Brandt, Madelia

Yes, Rep. Tim Walz voted for health care legislation. I am proud of him for having the morality to do the right thing.

I believe that it is immoral to grow rich on the backs of the sick. The average health insurance CEO makes millions a year. American health insurance costs twice as much per capita as that of the typical modern country. Yet we leave out 40 million people.

I have a nephew who reported the following to me: He was working on the ambulance crew of a county-owned ambulance program. He was told, “The important thing is to save lives.” Then the service was sold to a private company. He was told, “The important thing is to make money.”

Think about it and apply the logic to our entire health insurance industry.
