Principal injured in altercation

MANKATO — A school administrator at Central High School suffered minor injuries after an altercation with a student Tuesday.

Mankato police and emergency personnel responded to the school, which is located in the Lincoln Community Center, around 2:45 p.m.

According to Mankato Supt. Sheri Allen, Central Principal Steve Byrne suffered minor injuries after confronting a student but neither he nor the minor student were transported by ambulance to a hospital. The student left the school with his or her parents.

Allen said no weapons were involved and praised school staff for their response to the incident. She said the school district and police will be conducting investigations.
