ST PETER — A St. Peter school bus driver has been charged with criminal sexual conduct involving a victim under the age of 13, and police say they believe there may be more victims.
Douglas Arthur Labarr, 22, was charged Friday with eight counts of first-degree criminal sexual conduct. He is a driver for Saints Bus Service in St. Peter, the company contracted to provide bus service for the St. Peter school district. St. Peter Police Chief Matt Peters said the allegations against Labarr in this case were not related to his work as a school bus driver.
Peters would not say why investigators believe there may be more victims or if those potential victims relate to Labarr’s work as a bus driver. St. Peter School Supt. Jeffrey Olson said that his understanding is that the proper background checks were done on Labarr by the bus company he worked for.
Efforts to contact the owner of Saints Bus Service, Michael Hennek, were unsuccessful. Police said the arrest was the result of an ongoing investigation. Peters would not say when the investigation began. Labarr was arrested without incident Friday near the 200 block of Park Row in St. Peter. He is in the Nicollet County jail. Police say anyone with information should call police department detectives at 931-1550.
