MANKATO — The annual March of Dimes Signature Chefs Auction earned a record $125,000 in donations.
More than 700 guests participated in the Oct. 11 event, which features signature dishes from area chefs as well as a silent and live auctions.
“Thanks to the generous support of Greater Mankato area businesses that provided wonderful items for the live and silent auction and the outstanding leadership of our volunteer committee, the event was outstanding,” Signature Chefs Auction Chair Jolene Wall said in a statement.
Wall was grateful to sponsors and contributers, but especially to the 29 chefs and beverage providers. “We couldn’t do this without them.”
In the 10 years since the event has been held each fall at Snell Motors, more than $1 million has been raised for the March of Dimes, a national nonprofit organization that funds research to help babies with advances such as surfactant, which is crucial to aiding lung development of premature babies.
