New Rosa Parks principal named

MANKATO — Michelle Kruize is to be the new principal at Rosa Parks Elementary School.

The Mankato Area Public School Board is expected to formally act on the appointment Monday with Kruize’s duties beginning July 1.

Kruize earned a bachelor’s in elementary education from the University of Wisconsin-River Falls; a master’s in educational leadership from Southwest Minnesota State University; and a specialist degree in administration from Minnesota State University.

Kruize is now instructional coach for the Owatonna school district. Previous experience includes administration at Willow Creek and 10 years of teaching experience at Owatonna and Apple Valley high schools.

Principal Rick Lund is retiring after many years of service to Mankato Area Public Schools.
