MANKATO — A motorcyclist was killed in an accident Monday afternoon on Highway 22 at Victory Drive in Mankato. Jeni Johnson, 35, of Vernon Center, was operating a 1997 Harley Davidson and was traveling southbound on Highway 22. The motorcycle was approaching South Victory Drive at about 3:45 p.m. Monday, according to the State Patrol.
A 2009 Ford Focus, driven by Brenda Jaros, 54, of Mankato was eastbound on Victory Drive and turning northbound onto Highway 22. Johnson braked suddenly to avoid a collision with the Ford and was ejected from the motorcycle, the State Patrol reported. Jaros and her passenger Sara Heller-Zimprich, 48, of Mankato were not injured.
Mankato Fire Department, Mankato Police Department and Gold Cross Ambulance responded to the scene. The intersection was closed for several hours.
