MANKATO —
The Mankato West football team will have its full roster available for Friday's game at Rochester Mayo, according to activities director Ken Essay.
On Monday, West had to forfeit its first four victories of the season for using an ineligible player, which sources have said was senior running back Trenton Marks, who transferred from Mankato Loyola before the season. Marks, the team's leading rusher, sat out last week's homecoming game against Rochester John Marshall.
Essay said Monday that an "administrative mistake" on his part led to the eligibility problem for the player, which he could not identify because of data-privacy rules. On Tuesday, he would not comment on the ineligible player or the issue, but he said "the roster is on the (Minnesota State High School League) website, and all the players on that roster are eligible to compete on Friday."
Marks is listed on that roster. Marks will be eligible to play in the final three regular-season games and any playoff games.
"I feel good about the kids we have available from here on out," West coach Mark Esch said.
West (0-5, 0-4 in the Big Nine) plays Friday at Rochester Mayo (4-1, 4-0).
