KASOTA — The cause of a Thursday fire that destroyed a Kasota home remains under investigation, the Le Sueur County Sheriff’s Department said.
Meantime, firefighters had to return to the scene Friday morning to extinguish lingering flames.
The landmark house off Highway 22 and near Chankaska Creek Ranch and Winery is owned by Ruth Dutler, owner of Jerry Dutler’s Bowl in Mankato. She wasn’t immediately available for comment Friday.
It’s yet unclear whether anyone was in the home at the time of the mid-afternoon fire.
Fire department personnel from several locales fought the wind-whipped fire for hours in sub-zero temperatures. The house sat alone in an open area overlooking Highway 22.
