MANKATO — A Mankato man told police he was threatened at gunpoint in his home early Wednesday morning after interrupting a burglary in progress.
The man woke up at about 4:40 a.m. after hearing a noise in the living room at his rental house in the 100 block of Thayer Avenue. When he went into the room, a male pointed a handgun at him and demanded property.
At that point the victim complied and went back to his bedroom. Then he climbed out a window and ran to neighboring houses to ask someone to call police.
When the officers arrived, they entered the victim’s house, but the suspect was gone. Several electronic items had been stolen, Mankato police said.
The suspect was described as being black and about 6 feet tall with a slender build. He was wearing a white hooded sweatshirt and a white ski mask.
