Cow sighted, pursued for moooving violations by authorities

MANKATO — A cow that apparently managed to wander to Mankato from a farm north of town was returned home after about three hours of wrangling Tuesday.

The Mankato Department of Public Safety received a report that a cow was on Third Avenue near the intersection with Highway 14 at about 9:30 a.m., said Capt. Rich Murry of the Blue Earth County Sheriff’s Department. Sheriff Brad Peterson, a couple of deputies and Mankato community services officers responded and did what they could to catch cow and keep it away from the highway.

About three hours later, the cow was coaxed into a trailer and returned to its owner, Murry said.
