Nicollet County names interim administrator

— Bridgette Kennedy will be Nicollet County’s interim administrator for six months, the County Board decided this week.

“She’s so capable,” said Commissioner Bruce Beatty, who is also on the county’s personnel committee. “We were all very comfortable with this.”

The board’s first effort to find a replacement for former administrator Bob Podhradsky ended after the commissioners couldn’t agree on one of three finalists. Their favorite, former Beltrami County Administrator Anthony Murphy, had withdrawn his name from consideration.

“I think the board just didn’t feel good enough on the two who were left to just pick one,” Beatty said.

They plan to advertise the position again in August, though he said they’d be lucky to have someone picked by the end of the year.

Kennedy was appointed to be auditor-treasurer about five years ago, Beatty said, shortly after the position was moved from elected to appointed. The auditor-treasurer is the chief finance officer of the county and also handles elections.

She’ll split her time between administrator and auditor-treasurer duties through her six-month term.
