Hoffner's wife to make statement

MANKATO — Minnesota State University head football coach Todd Hoffner's wife will make a statement at a press conference Monday, and officials at universities Hoffner previously worked for are reviewing his old cell phone and computer records.

KEYC-TV reported that Hoffner's attorney said Hoffner's wife will make a statement to the press at 10 a.m. Monday at the Maschka, Riedy, and Ries law firm in Mankato.

Hoffner, 46, was charged last week with possessing and making child pornography, both felonies. The complaint says Hoffner videotaped his three young children while they were nude and partially nude.

The Star Tribune reported that two colleges that once employed Hoffner are reviewing his old computer and cellphone records.

An official at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Clair, where Hoffner was coach from 1999-2005, said it was "prudent" for the university to check the records in light of the charges.

An official at the University of South Dakota, where Hoffner worked before coming to MSU, said they were doing a similar investigation.

Blue Earth County Sheriff's Capt. Rich Murry also told the newspaper that investigators were continuing to examine computers taken from Hoffner's home and that the process would take "quite a bit of time." He said there "were quite a few items removed" from the computer disks.

So far, investigators have found no additional evidence or images or videos of any other minors, Murry said.
