MANKATO — Gregory Eugene Ward, a level three sex offender, will not be released by the Department of Corrections Monday, the city of Mankato said in a press release Friday evening.
The city said it had no other information, so it was unclear Friday when Ward will be released.
The announcement came the day after a community notification meeting was held at the Verizon Wireless Center for Ward's future neighbors. Ward had planned to move into the Riverfront Inn motel at 1727 N. Riverfront Drive on Monday.
A Department of Corrections spokesman said there are a number of factors, such as discipline and a failure to complete treatment, that can delay a release date. He said a more definitive answer on when Ward will be released will wait until Monday.
