MANKATO — A 41-year-old man is in serious condition at a Minneapolis hospital after being struck by a train in New Ulm on Sunday.
Darrick Postel, address unknown, was struck near 20th North Street about 5:15 p.m., New Ulm police said.
According to police, the engineer and conductor on a Canadian Pacific train observed a person sitting on the tracks. The engineer activated emergency brakes and horn and Postel was struck before the train could come to a complete stop.
Responding officers found him bleeding and unconscious, and he was airlifted to Hennepin County Medical Center.
