Burglary suspect sought after escape from police

MANKATO — A triggered burglary alarm and a suspect’s escape from an officer led to a late-night search around the Lime Valley Mobile Home Park on the north edge of Mankato Saturday.

Several police officers, sheriff’s deputies and police dog from Le Sueur County were used in an attempt to find the suspect, but he had not been located as of Sunday afternoon, said Cmdr. Debbie McDermott of the Mankato Police Department. The mobile home court is bordered by a swamp to its west, open fields to the north and woods to the south and east. It is just northwest of the Sakatah Singing Hills State Trail ravine.

Police believe the suspect triggered a burglary alarm at the mobile home residence, but wasn’t able to get inside before an officer arrived. A witness at the scene identified the man, who has three additional warrants for his arrest. Police were not releasing the suspect’s name Sunday.
