Burglary suspect arrested

MANKATO — A 19-year-old Minnesota State University student was arrested
Sunday for allegedly burglarizing three apartments and tampering with a
motor vehicle.

Niklas Mark Tulkki was arrested after he was detained by a security officer
in the 1400 block of Warren Street at about 3:30 a.m. for throwing an object at a parked vehicle, a Mankato Department of Public Safety report said. Officers later learned Tulkki also was a suspect in the burglaries at the apartment complex.

An alert resident there had seen Tulkki loitering in a hallway and
approached him, the report said. She was able to grab his student
identification card from him before he fled on foot.

Police are again reminding people to lock their doors and call 911 to report
suspicious activity.
