WASECA — Sgt. Dave Anderson, a State Patrol officer who works out of the Mankato office, has been named Trooper of the Year by the State Patrol.

Anderson, 32, lives in Waseca with his family. He received the honor, the State Patrol said, “for his commitment to traffic safety and his dedication to the mission of the State Patrol and the people it serves.”

Throughout his career, Anderson served the agency in many roles including crash reconstruction specialist, academy staff trooper, and expert in defensive tactics, standardized field sobriety and radar use. Anderson will retire in September.

Each year the patrol honors citizens, members of other law enforcement agencies, troopers and State Patrol employees who perform life-saving acts, excel in a crisis or help to ensure safer Minnesota roads.
