MANKATO — A 13-year-old East Junior High School student was questioned by police Wednesday morning after it was reported he had brought a gun and bullets to school Tuesday.
After investigating, police learned the student had actually only brought bullets to school.
The boy had told other students he had stolen a gun from someone, but when police spoke to that person, they were told no guns were missing, a Mankato Department of Public Safety report said. The incident remains under investigation, so the report did not say if the bullets were with the student in school Wednesday.
After the student apparently showed the bullets to another student or students Tuesday, rumors spread through the school before the incident was reported a day later. Police said the incident should have been reported immediately.
