MANKATO —
Carl Nordmeier, owner of Tune Town in Old Town, is getting into the holiday spirit, giving about half the proceeds of sales of “The Minnesota Beatle Project Vol. 2” album to Mankato Area Public Schools.
All proceeds from “Beatle Project” sales are meant to benefit music and arts programs in Minnesota public schools.
Nordmeier is selling the CDs for $15 apiece, with $8 from each sale going to to Minnesota public schools and $7.50 to be donated locally to Mankato schools. The extra 50 cents is coming out of his pocket.
Tune Town had about 30 CDs in stock.
“The Minnesota Beatle Project Vol. 2” was released by VEGA Productions Tuesday. The CD includes 16 different Beatles songs covered by different Minnesota-born or -based musicians. Bands include Mason Jennings, Soul Asylum, Polara and The New Standards.
