MANKATO — A gas line was cut in Lower North Mankato Monday afternoon, leading firefighters to briefly close a block of Range Street while they slowed the leak and waited for the gas company to arrive.
Allan Luke, of Raleigh, N.C., was trimming the hedges at his brother's 313 Range St. house when he hit the copper gas line at about 1:30 p.m. He knew what happened after hearing a hissing noise and smelling gas.
It "gave way easier than a bush," he said of the line.
CenterPoint Energy arrived at about 2 p.m. and firefighters left the scene soon after. No one was hurt.
