Study: Mankato high in job growth

—

The Mankato/North Mankato area has been ranked in the top 20 percent of cities for job growth, according to a city economic development research group.

NewGeography. com ranked the Mankato/North Mankato metropolitan statistical area as 80th best job growth city out of 398 MSAs in the U.S.

Mankato was first of all six Minnesota MSAs in the 2012 Best Cities for Job Growth rankings.

The area also was ranked top in Minnesota and 52 of 243 MSAs that are smaller with fewer than 150,000 employees.

The rankings measure the robustness of each area’s growth in the short-term and longer-term and use U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics area employment data.

“This latest ranking reaffirms our marketplace’s continued strength as a job creator not only in the short term, but in the long term, demonstrating the sustainability of this growth over time,” said Greater Mankato Growth President and CEO Jonathan Zierdt in a written statement.
