MANKATO — An 18-year-old Chaska man is in jail awaiting charges being requested by police after a high-speed chase early Saturday morning.
The chase started just before 3 a.m. after an officer clocked a 1997 Ford Escort going 80 mph in a 40 mph zone on Monks Avenue, said Det. Cmdr. Matt DuRose of the Mankato Department of Public Safety. The chase continued until the Escort was stopped at the intersection of Victory Drive and Hoffman Road.
Vincent Alexander Lee allegedly struggled with officers after the stop and continued to physically resist while being checked into the Blue Earth County Jail, DuRose said. Officers also suspected Lee was under the influence of alcohol or other drugs, but he allegedly refused to submit to a test.
Charges of fleeing an officer in a motor vehicle, obstruction with force and refusing to submit to a driving under the influence test are being requested.
