Exhibitors say interest improving in home improvements

MANKATO — It didn’t matter if they were selling windows, floors or landscaping, exhibitors at the Southern Minnesota Home and Builders Show Saturday at the Verizon Wireless Center agreed on one thing.

It’s better than last year.

Exhibitors not only noticed more people had wandered in from a sunny, spring-like day to see what the show had to offer, but they spent more time looking and talking to exhibitors than last year. Most feel the economic climate has changed since last year’s show, allowing people to at least consider spending money on home improvements. They all hope the upturn in interest at this year’s show leads to a busier summer and fall than past years.

For most homeowners, the work never ends. There’s always something that needs fixing, replacing, remodeling or improving. Fortunately, for those willing to spend the time and money, there are a host of businesses who could always be a little bit busier this summer.
