Early morning structure fire

MANKATO — This morning at 4:21 a.m. public safety responded to a structure fire at 420 North Second Street.

Tenants were exiting when firefighters arrived and it was discovered an entryway to an attached three-season porch was on fire.

The fire was quickly extinguished, preventing it from spreading into the rest of the home.

The cause of the fire is under investigation. Damages are estimated at $5,000 and there were no injuries.

Anyone with information about the fire is asked to contact public safety-fire staff at 387-8577.
