NORTH MANKATO — Part of the Highway 14 detour in North Mankato will be removed late Wednesday.
A short segment on the west end of the highway will be open to traffic, according to the Minnesota Department of Transportation.
The remaining modified detour will be in place until fall. No detour is expected in 2013. The new Highway 14 detour still includes Nicollet County Road 13 and some of County Road 6; however, County Road 77 is no longer part of the detour.
LorRay Drive may be used as an alternative for local traffic.
The two-year Highway 14 project in North Mankato is being built in phases. The 2012 construction project includes constructing embankment for bridges and ramps at County Road 41 interchange; building ditches, ponds, drainage structures; grading westbound Highway 14; grading and paving eastbound Highway 14; and completing the roundabout at County Road 6, Pleasant View Drive and County Road 41.
