Solstice on snowshoes

On the shortest day of the year, a celebration

— The days only get longer from here.

The winter solstice on Dec. 21 marked the shortest day of the year. People gathered at the School Sisters of Notre Dame campus on Good Counsel Hill to celebrate the lengthening of days Tuesday night at a winter solstice celebration hosted by the Center for Earth Spirituality and Rural Ministry.

Visitors could try out snowshoeing during a walk through the woods on campus before a meal and bonfire.

They were also able to celebrate the beauty of winter and look forward to the hope and life spring brings.
