Runners participating in an commemorative run from Fort Snelling in the Twin Cities to Mankato run along U.S. Highway 169 south of St. Peter. The 85-mile run, conducted annually to commemorate the execution of 38 Dakota by the U.S. military on Dec. 26, 1862, ended at Reconciliation Park, located near the site of the hangings.
