AMBOY — The standoff that led to the shooting of two police officers and the suicide of the suspect turned violent after a deputy’s Taser shot at the suspect failed to subdue him.
Those details and more from the events of the standoff with Jeffrey Skjervold of Amboy on Dec. 23, 2006, are detailed in a 708-page report released to The Free Press by the Bureau of Criminal Apprehension.
The report is filled with detailed interviews with dozens of officers involved, family and friends and other witnesses.
Blue Earth County Attorney Ross Arneson determined last month there will be no criminal charges against anyone involved, and the case is closed.
Stories from the report, as well as an interview with Blue Earth County Sheriff’s Capt. Rich Murry, who fired the Taser, are in the Tuesday, Feb. 26, print edition of The Free Press and in the e-edition.
