Drinking death lawsuit to be filed Thursday
Bar, drinking companions named
MANKATO — A lawsuit attorneys plan to file Thursday on behalf of Amanda Jax’s mother describes a deadly two hours of drinking they claim could have been stopped by a downtown bartender.
Sidelines Bar and Grill was served with the lawsuit’s summons and complaint in late January or early February, said Alan Milavetz, the lawyer hired by Jax’s mother, Jenny Haag.
Jax died after drinking the equivalent of 17 shots of alcohol while celebrating her 21st birthday at the bar on Oct. 29.
An exhibit included in the paperwork is a picture Milavetz describes as Jax taking her last shot, a mixture of cherry vodka and an energy drink called a “cherry bomb,” with her friends and the bartender, Beau Ryan.
Those friends, also named as defendants in the lawsuit, took pictures of Jax as she sat unconscious outside Sidelines, according to the civil complaint.
