MANKATO — There is no ambiguity for Pierre Sadaka when it comes to whether we’re in an economic downturn or a full-blown recession.
“As a businessperson, it sure feels like a recession,” said Sadaka, who with his family owns and operates Charley’s Restaurant in Mankato.
But for Snell Motors, the biggest clue to economic problems is in the number of job applicants they get. Sales, especially of bigger vehicles, have actually risen.
"I feel kind of guilty," says Todd Snell, owner of the dealership. He reckons that the high prices for farm commodities and Mankato's stature as a regional center help insulate big-ticket items from the problems of the nation's economy.
